The Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) is the third oldest University in Greece and one of the oldest Business Schools in Europe with almost 100 years of high-quality research and education practices. AUEB is the leading institution in Greece which provides education both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the academic fields of Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Management Science and Technology, Informatics, and Statistics. It offers 8 BSc degrees and 35 MSc/MBA degrees and some are certified by international organizations like AMBA EFQM etc. AUEB is a distinguished European public learning institution with high impact research activity with 30 research laboratories and 3 PhD programs. Most of the 200 members of staff are PhD holders from top Universities in USA and Europe and have published in leading scientific journals. Further to its academic excellence, AUEB has given significant emphasis and effort in promoting, encouraging and supporting entrepreneurship and innovation within its wider academic community and has been recognized by the EC as European best practice.
ELTRUN is the E-Business Research Center of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). The center was established by Prof. Doukidis in 1994 and currently consists of more than 40 researchers, including 6 members of the academic staff of AUEB and 15 Post-Doc and academic staff of other Institutions. Through the years, ELTRUN has successfully managed to produce state-of-the-art research and to complete more than 40 international research projects some of them funded by the Information Society and Technologies Program of the European Commission. In these international research projects, ELTRUN has collaborated closely with over 150 international companies such as: Microsoft, Nokia, Unisys, Sema, Sonera, Manesman, Procter & Gamble, Oracle, Ericsson etc. and world-class Institutions such as LSE, INSEAD, St. Gallen, MIT, Cologne, Esade, Erasmus, Cambridge etc. The center is actively involved in commercial projects and executive education programs to solve difficult real-life problems with the support of ICTs, various activities that are intended to increase awareness in the fields of E-Business and supports scientifically the incubation center (ACEin) of AUEB
The Athens Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation-ACEin is the incubation center of AUEB offering support to researchers and potential young entrepreneurs in order to develop innovative business ideas and bring them to the market. ACEin puts significant effort in supporting students pursuing either undergraduate studies and executive master’s or doctoral degrees and researchers who wish to turn their innovative entrepreneurial ideas or scientific research results into a sustainable business model and subsequent start-up company. Τhe Centre helps the new ventures to develop their ideas and to move from the stage of idea in developing the concept and exit to market progress, while increasing the chances of success through constant interaction with the market. This process of progress, development and maturation of each new business idea for a product / service indicates that each group requires a different approach to teaching, mentoring, support services and networking activities.
