Prof. Georgios I. Doukidis, Dr. Adam Vrechopoulos Starting Date: April 2006 Short DescriptionThis doctoral research proposal is concerned about consumer behavior evaluation in Interactive Digital Television (IDTV) and its determinants in relation to the degree of virtual communities' influence, as indirect reference groups to individuals. Current academic studies and business practices support our point of interest, recognising that while designing for and understanding digital interactive television, the claim from usability studies about "making it simple and easy" for the individual user must be elaborated and confronted with the communicative and social complexity of the living room, the aesthetical demands of text production and the development of resources for participating in public and cultural spheres of communication. At this phase of the research, our aim is to provide insights on the following questions: Which are the factors that determine the degree of iTV Virtual Communities' influence to the product or brand usage / adoption? How the consumption situation determinants are affected specifically by the form of influence of the Virtual Communities? How the consumption situation determinants of Virtual Communities' influence are differentiated based on the types of their group members? Evangelia's personal info
