Applications of Moral Hazard Models in the Internet Connectivity Market. PDF Print E-mail

Supervisors: Professor G Doukidis, Professor K. Courcoubetis

Abstract

The recent Internet growth sets new challenges for the Internet connectivity market and exerts strong pressure in the existing structures. A key challenge involves provision of network service quality (e.g. high network performance guarantees), which is a prerequisite for the deployment of many value-added applications (e.g. real time video, video conferencing) and their commercial exploitation. This paper presents an overview of my PhD thesis that explored moral hazard problems in interconnection agreements and proposed the application of linear incentive schemes to mitigate the adverse implications and induce network service quality provision.
