AUEB won the category Knowledge, Information and Communication Systems Management with the case study: "Internet Enabled Collaborative Store Ordering: Veropoulos Spar Retailer (A)" by G. Doukidis, K. Pramatari and T. Evgeniou, INSEAD. Athens University of Economics and Business is one of the three first-time business school winners in the ecch European Case Awards 2009. AUEB won the category Knowledge, Information and Communication Systems Management with the case study: "Internet Enabled Collaborative Store Ordering: Veropoulos Spar Retailer (A)" by Theodoros Evgeniou, INSEAD, George Doukidis and Katerina Pramatari. It is worth mentioning because it is the first time in the nineteen-year history of the Awards that a Greek Business School wins a case award. This year's winners, apart from Professors from AUEB, are Professors from INSEAD and London Business School. The ceremony awards will be held in London, September 25, 2009. ecch is the largest single source of management case studies in the world, with more than 58.500 items in its catalogue, available to all through www.ecch.com. An independent, membership-based, non-profit organisation, ecch is dedicated to supporting authors and users of case studies and promoting the case method of learning. It provides the interface between the authors of cases and the educational institutions and businesses that use them for teaching and learning. ecch has an international programme of case writing and teaching workshops and events. ecch European Case Awards have been presented by ecch annually since 1991 to provide formal recognition and exposure for successful case authors and their institutions and to raise the profile of the case method of teaching. Awards are made in up to nine management categories, plus one overall winning case for each year. The case method of learning was pioneered in the early 20th Century at Harvard University and since then it has become the favoured teaching method of most of the world?s leading business schools. Case studies recount real life business or management situations that present business executives with a dilemma or uncertain outcome. The case describes the scenario in the context of the events, people and factors that influence it and enables students to identify closely with those involved. Management cases are generally written by business school faculty with particular learning objectives in mind and are refined in the classroom before publication. The stable Supply Chain Network (SCN) configuration, introduced by Ostrovsky [11], is defined on a finite set of agents A that can be divided into k finite disjoint sets, A1 being the set of suppliers, Ak the set of final consumers, and Ai, i={2,3,…,k-1}, the sets of intermediary agents, and asks for a chain stable allocation of the agents. In our current work we present a specialized version of Ostrovsky’s generic framework, and prove that, under this setting, any k-sided SCN can be decomposed to k-1 united SM sub-markets. Moreover, we implement T-algorithm, presented in [11], as a generalization of the Gale-Shapley algorithm [7], and show how an intermediary-optimal solution can be derived, while we prove that the lattice formed by the set of solutions is distributive.
